Do you know what the difference between " computer sciene" and "Information technology" ? I don't know how much between two career

Computer Science is suitable for programmers.

IT is for managing the computers.

I think :
- Computer is a part of IT
- IT have many fields such as : computer science, networks and information systems, software technology
But the top of IT is computer science

If you want to understand computer science and IT in english
plz contact me : huy9dan
I am not good at it but I can understand something

What email address of huy9d, please? Actually, CS is a part of IT, but do you know what difference between CS and Sofware Engineering? Thanks

Hey Why don't you explain it right here and everybody can discuss
about it. Someone who separated them vaguely will have a chance to understand it more clearly

yeah, just do it, I think this matter should be disccussed right here

comp scien & IT

same ****, just diff smells

some uni/colleges prefer to call their comp courses as Bachelor/Diploma of Science in Computing but some other ones like calling something like Bachelor/Diploma of Info Tech........but in general, they are just the same. Comp Sci vs Comp Eng is another story

Inside each comp course, there are many diff sub-majors which specialise ppl in the mainstream of their future career.

hope that helps

To Huy9dan, may I ask you one more question ?
Is there any differences between Information System Management and Management Information System ? I read on some Web Sites about studying IT, sometime they write Information System Management and sometime they write Management Information System. I am really confused
Thanks

There's actually a dividing line between Comp Sci/CompE and IT.
* Computer Science/Engineering: More about the in-depth parts of computer, or focus on the "make" of computers. People who go with CS/CE first have to learn the foundation of computer including maths, some statistics, physics, and sometimes (weird enough), linguistic (!). Then they'll study some basic courses of computers, these usually are programming courses, data structures, algorithm, computer architectures, operating system, and so on. After that the in-depth part of CE and CS are different:
- CE people go more with building applications (including both software and hardware).
+ Software such as software engineering, Operating systems, database, mobile, compiler optimization, design, OOP, parallel and distributed systems...
+ Hardware such as computer architecture, embedded systems, VLSI design, digital design ...

- CS people go more with theories and ideas (more about the soft part of both soft and hardware). Some of the below to name a few:
+ Algorithms and theory of computations:
. probabilistic, approximate and experimental analysis of algorithm
. graph theory
. algorithm of computer networks
. cryptography
. parallel architectures and interconnection networks
. monotonic and nonmonotonic logics
....

+ Artificial intelligence:
. pattern recognition
. image understanding
. machine learning ( :), not human learn, but machine to learn)
. fuzzy logic systems
. distributed AI
. data mining
. natural language processing (oh yes, that's why they have to learn linguistic!)
. data compression (so that they can build things such as winzip and mp3...)
. human-computer interaction

+ bunch of other things, I'm too lazy to list them out here

* Information Technology: More about the floating part of the ice berg; in other words, focus on the "use" of computers.
Most of the areas in IT are discussed in ddth, so let's not list them out here. However, there are some of the areas in IT that we IT people may not be aware of, such as: biomedical infomatics (sounds hot, eh?), cognitive analysis, interaction design, phylosophy of IT, ... and some other you may have heard of: digital libraries (sure we hear it a lot), info management, info security, network tech, ...

* One thing to notice is that there are a lot of areas that IT and CS/CE overlap (such as database, data mining, networking, computer-human interaction, ...), but the different is that the IT people learn about, and apply the use of computers, while the others learn about the structural design and theory of computers.

It 's useful information.
I want to ask you more
1. May you tell me the major job for each field (in CS or in IT ) for graduated students ?
2. How about jobs in Vietnam ? CS is not really needed in Vietnam ,isn't it ?
If yes, may you recommend some ?
