Being one of the best file managers to date, Total Commander is unfortunatelly distributed with default settings which don't meet the requirements of most users and don't unveil the great majority of its numerous abilities.
It often takes a considerable amount of time before the inexperienced user configures TC to his or her tastes. Others, less inquisitive, will never find out the full potential of TC
This package is not just another release stuffed with a large quatity of addons and plugins. In making this package we've laid a special stress on settings, many of which are unknown to the general public and are hidden in the configuration files. We believe that many of them will become a welcome revelation for you.
Don't be afraid, all your previous settings and configurations will remain intact since the configurations included in this package are stored in separate files and Total Commander with new profiles can be launched using individual desktop shortcuts.
In conclusion, we'd like to say that all THIS (and maybe even better) you could make on your own, just spending a bit more time on familiarizing with the interface of this great file manager.

The interface has more correct, in our opinion, default settings (in particular mouse selecting which not only allows to work with TC like with Norton Commander but also in Windows Explorer-like manner, using context menus and all other common methods);
All (or, well, nearly all) of the TC hidden features activated;
User-defined icon libraries included and linked. They make the TC interface more impressive. (We did not venture to go to far in changing the appearance of TC since it is a domain of every individual user).
Help file distributed by the developer included. It can answer most of your questions. (Please, focus your attention on the detailed description of configuration files parameters);
Improved extended main menu for professionals with more than 100 commands!
Nearly 30 additional user-defined keyboard commands added. They have already become standard on professionals' machines;
Two new functional toolbars added (pay attention to the fact that many buttons have their original settings as well);
Preset directory hotlist and the start menu (we hope that you will use most of the commands included in the custom menus much more often than the standard ones);
Added several typical tab sets and included the respective commands for launching them in the menu (if you use one of the sets more often than we assumed then probably you'd better put the button for launhcing that set on the toolbar);
Preset connections to some popular FTP servers (if you know a good and stable resource then let us know so we could include it in our FTP servers list);
Preset search criteria (so, for instance, you can search for "Temporary files", "Images", "Archives" and so on without taking troubles with entering numerous extensions corresponding to the selected file type);
Predeiined colors for files (not only by type but also by creation time!);

DiskDir - creates drive images with list of files (analogue of Where Is It). Typical CD-ROM image weights only 100-200 Kbytes and search for a file takes only 2-3 sec.!
ISO - reads CD-ROM and floppy disks images of the following formats: ISO, BIN, CUE, IMG, NRG, C2D;
NTFS4TC - creates images of any disks/partitions (NTFS, FAT, EXT2, any others). Supports phisical drives - USB FLASH, etc. Possibility to save locked files (such as swap-file, Registry, MFT etc.) under Windows NT, 2000, XP. Using this plugin Windows 9x users can get access to NTFS partitions.
