- AWDFLASH.EXE: Dùng để ghi lại chương trình BIOS thành tệp có đuôi (.BIN). Hoặc ghi từ tệp có đuôi (.BIN) vào ROMBIOS.

- CBROM.EXE: Dùng để ép thêm tệp LOGO đuôi BMP 16 màu, vào tệp (.BIN) trước đó.

- MODBIN.EXE: Để có thể sửa chữa các tham số của tệp(.BIN) mà không phải vào BIOS.

Xin đề xuất phương án như sau: (Lưu ý, quá trình cập nhật BIOS nên chạy từ đĩa mềm, ...theo khuyến cáo của nhà sản xuất).

1. BACKUP chương trình ghi trong BIOS vào đĩa mềm để đề phòng không thành công:

- Phải có 1 đĩa mềm khởi động, vì nếu hỏng chương trình trong BIOS, máy vẫn cho phép khởi động bằng đĩa mềm để có thể cập nhật lại.

- Copy các chương trình trên vào một đĩa mềm khởi động, khởi động lại từ đĩa mềm này để tránh có các chương trình thường trú STR (Stay and Terminate Resident) có thể ảnh hưởng tới quá trình ghi cập nhật và tránh sử dụng các chương trình quản lý bộ nhớ EMM hoặc QEMM DRIVER vì có thể dẫn tới sai lệch dữ liệu.

- Chạy lệnh AWDFLASH.EXE để hiện ra màn hình SETUP.

Tại tên chương trình UPDATE do chưa có, nên ta đánh đại một tên nào đó ví dụ đánh ABC.BIN. Sẽ hiện thông báo hỏi có cất VERSION hiện tại không, xin chọn yes.

Đánh tên tệp cất thiết lập hiện tại ví dụ ABC.BIN Tệp này để khôi phục BIOS. Sau đó nhấn Enter để máy xuất dữ liệu BIOS vào tệp ABC.BIN sau đó ta thoát khỏi chương trình. Lưu tệp ABC.BIN này sang một đĩa mềm khởi động khác cùng tệp AWDFLASH.EXE để đề phòng trục trặc

2. Tạo tệp LOGO bitmap có 16 màu Để tạo LOGO, hãy dùng một chương trình bất kỳ tạo một tệp BITMAP 16 màu có kích thước 136 x126 ví dụ MYLOGO.BMP. Có thể sử dụng chương trình Paint Brush để tạo.

3. Nối tệp MYLOGO.BMP vào tệp ABC.BIN - Chạy chương trình CBROM.EXE theo cú pháp: CBROM ABC.BIN /epa MYLOGO.BMP. Chạy file modbin.exe, để đổi "bios date" của file.bin đó.

4. Sau đó chạy AWDFLASH.EXE để cập nhật ABC.BIN vào ROMBIOS. AWDFLASH ABC.BIN /SN /PY

5. Khởi động lại để kiểm tra kết quả.

Adding the Logo to Your BIOS File

Grab your BIOS file from your motherboard manufacturer's website and decompress it to a temp directory. This is where AmiBCP comes in. To load up your bios file:

amibcp bios.bin

Go into Edit BIOS Modules and look for a line that reads 31 OEM Logo Data:

This is normally the standard green EnergyStar logo. In order to use our own logo, we need to delete this module by hitting [Del].
Note: Be careful about deleting modules, if you nuke the wrong one, exit AmiBCP without saving. I wouldn't touch the Graphic Logo lines either, removing or changing them can screw up your BIOS.

Once you've deleted the old logo, add your own by hitting [Ins]:

First it'll ask you for the file you want to insert into the module. This is your PCX file. Next it'll bring up the 'Change Module Characteristics' window. Two things you need to change here. First, highlight the Module ID field and use the pgup/pgdown keys to change it to 31 OEM Logo Data. Also, make sure Compressed is set to Yes. Hit [Esc] then [Enter] to save the new module. You should now see your logo right at the bottom of the listing:

Hit [Esc] to go back to the AmiBCP Main Menu, then hit F10 to save the new BIOS and exit.

Flashing Your BIOS


Now all that remains is for you to flash your BIOS with the new image. AMI's Flash utility is a little nicer to use than Award's, but does the same job nonetheless.

First you need to grab a copy of FLASH that works with your BIOS. The 7ZMM boards want FLASH 8.48. Drop the flash utility into the directory with your BIOS file. Now, flashing the BIOS should be done in STRAIGHT DOS only. Most utils won't run in Windows anyway, but need to be careful, you don't want a dumb windows hiccup screwing up your board. Boot off a boot disk that doesn't load any extra drivers (not even CD-ROM drivers), or if you use Win9x, hit F8 during bootup off the hard drive and select Safe Mode Command Prompt Only from the menu.

Once you're in the directory, run flash with your BIOS file:

flash bios.bin /A

This will automatically load the BIOS and flash your chip. If you rather go through FLASH and it's prompts manually, leave off the /A from the command line.



Flashing the BIOS

Once you're finished, do a hard reset or turn your PC off and back on again. Now, all that's left to do is to admire your handiwork:



The Result

Now, chances are that you'll get a CMOS/GPNV Bad or CMOS Checksum error when you boot. This is normal since the CMOS options are reset by a BIOS flash. You'll just need to go back into CMOS setup and change your options back the way you like them, and save it.
