Study English - IELTS Preparation là bộ sách bao gồm 26 bài học được xây dựng dựa trên những cuộc phỏng vấn băng hình với sự tham gia của những người sử dụng tiếng Anh như là ngôn ngữ mẹ đẻ. Phát ngôn viên phần lớn là các chuyên gia về những đề tài có liên quan đến thể thức thi IELTS. Những thước phim này được trích từ các chương trình giáo dục, khoa học và những vấn đề đương đại được phát sóng trên kênh truyền hình ABC.
Điểm nổi bật của bộ sách này chính là cách sử dụng tiếng Anh đặc thù. Người học tiếng Anh sẽ được tiếp cận với cả hai hình thức nói và viết, trải nghiệm với sự tinh tế và cách sử dụng đồng thời cả hai hình thức. Người giới thiệu, trong khi giảng về đặc điểm ngôn ngữ thể hiện trong từng phân đoạn, sẽ khéo léo kéo người học tham gia vào lớp học bằng các ám hiệu nghe, những lời giải thích, bài tập và nhiều hoạt động khác.
Mỗi bài học dựa trên một phân đoạn phim dài 10 phút, sử dụng ngôn ngữ nói để thể hiện những khía cạnh cách sử dụng tiếng Anh, ví như: ngữ pháp, từ vựng và cách phát âm. Tất cả những kỹ năng chính yếu đều được thể hiện: Nghe (Listening), Đọc (Reading), Viết (Writing) và Nói (Speaking). Các phân đoạn này độc lập với nhau nên người học có thể học bất kỳ bài nào, không cần phải theo thứ tự.
