Godaddy đã ủng hộ SOPA, các bác vào bàn tán nào

Em mới đọc được một tin từ PCMag rằng Godaddy đã ủng hộ SOPA - Đạo luật chấm dứt nạn xâm phạm bản quyền trực tuyến” (Stop Online Piracy Act).

Đây quả là một tin xấu đối với những ai đang dùng domain mua từ nhà cung cấp này để chạy site vi phạm bản quyền.
Chắc em cũng phải tính chuyện chuyển domain sang nơi khác thôi.

Bọn Godaddy làm ăn chặt lắm, dạo trước em cũng bị mất mấy cái domain ở đấy. Giờ toàn mua trực tiếp luôn của dreamhost cho lành.

Nó bị "boycott" dữ quá nên giả vờ thế thôi chứ không phải chuyển hẳn qua ko ủng hộ đâu. Nói chung củng nữa nạc nữa mỡ. Chuyển cho nó lành

Nghe nói rất nhiều trên báo chí và mạng internet về tổ chức Anonymous, cái họ làm không biết có ý nghĩa chi. Nhưng cả Godaddy cũng sợ tổ chức này, vậy nếu tổ chức này thuộc quyền của 1 quốc gia nào đó, thì bất cập lắm :(.

ừ mới chuyển máy cái qua namecheap, để bên thằng goddady có ngày mất domain mà ko biết. Nói tóm lại nó giả vờ ko ủng hộ SOPA nữa nhưng thực ra vẫn ngầm ủng hộ


[GoDaddy CEO] Adelman couldn’t commit to changing its position on the record in Congress when asked about that, but said “I’ll take that back to our legislative guys, but I agree that’s an important step.” But when pressed, he said “We’re going to step back and let others take leadership roles.” He felt that the public statement removing their support would be sufficient for now, though further steps would be considered.

So, GoDaddy hasn't gone on the record to oppose SOPA, and now they've made it clear they're still officially supporting it. In my opinion, the "we no longer support SOPA" statement released yesterday seems to be just a calculated PR move.

Go Daddy Flip-Flops, Drops SOPA Support

Anybody who knows anything about tech knows that the proposed Stop Online Piracy Act sucks and would break the Internet, to put it in a nutshell. That’s why so many geeks find Go Daddy’s support for the act …disappointing (to say the least). We told you yesterday that Go Daddy was facing a boycott slash mass exodus from irate techies for the company’s vocal SOPA support, and apparently, the prospect of losing tons of domain registrations makes businessmen reconsider their political positions quickly. Today, Go Daddy announced it was withdrawing its support for SOPA.

"It's very important that all Internet stakeholders work together on this,” CEO Warren Adelman said in the company’s press release. “Getting it right is worth the wait. Go Daddy will support it when and if the Internet community supports it."

Of course, while Go Daddy may have withdrawn official support, there’s no mistaking where its feelings still lie, as evidenced by the closing line of the announcement, which was penned by Christine Jones, the company’s general counsel: “"Go Daddy has always fought to preserve the intellectual property rights of third parties, and will continue to do so in the future.” We agree with the sentiment, but it isn’t exactly the most diplomatic way to sign off.

Hey, are you heartened by Go Daddy’s switch? Keep the momentum going! A couple of days ago, Gizmodo released a Congressionally-created list of every company and organization that officially backs the craptastic SOPA bill – along with the contact information for each one. Why not give some of those companies a ring or send them a letter to let them know the mistake they’re making?

Thằng này vẫn chơi nước đôi. Bây giờ, em không tin tưởng nó tí nào. Một quyết định "to" như thế mà nó có thề nay nói này, mai nói nọ. Chuyển những domain đẹp đi sớm cho lành.
