QUICK SOURCE CODE DOWNLOAD GUIDE
Why do I have to download the code from the book? Why don't you just put a CD in the book?
CD's can and do go out of date and they increase the cost of the book. Not including a CD lowers our cost and so your cost.
Do I need to register before I can download the code for my book?
No. If you own the book, you can get the code that goes with it free of charge and equally free from your having to register. However, we do reserve the right to use a verification scheme to prove you have a physical copy of the book in hand.
The long answer is that before you download the code, we do offer you the opportunity (and would of course love for you) to register. If you agree to register, we will send you e-mail announcements about our various new books. These announcements will always include a hefty discount offer embedded in the e-mail. Registering is also the only way to have a chance to receive a cool Apress t-shirt - keep in mind that some of our t-shirt designs actually glow in the dark!
What are the conditions for using the code?
We want to make your use of the code as free of restrictions as possible. However, for both legal and commercial reasons, you do have to agree to a few conditions. By downloading the code, you agree to the following:
* Apress, its authors, and its distributors are not responsible for any loss, damage, or other claim caused or alleged to be caused directly or indirectly by the information we supply. All files are supplied on an "as-is" basis without a warranty of any form.
* If the code is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) or equivalent, you agree to abide by the terms of the license accompanying the code.
* Except where we explicitly grant you permission, you may not redistribute the code in any form anywhere. This means don't give it to any person, any group, post it on any Web site, forum, newsgroup etc. without permission from us.
* You may use the code in any of your own projects but you must place a copyright notice in the source code or as part of the splash screen for the product as appropriate. You may not sell the source code for a project that includes this code in source form without our permission though you may distribute it in compiled or other executable form. The exception is, of course, that code you use that was released under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) or equivalent may only be used according to the terms specified in those licenses.
